Over the weekend I was wondering what to write in my May Hinge article and praying that God would give me an idea. God is good. God gave me what I needed. In fact, God is always giving to me. Most importantly, “God gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) There is no better gift than Jesus, but God gives us even more. God gives us food and work and play—abundant life. God gives us abilities and talents to bless our lives and the lives of others. Today, I’m especially aware of God’s gift of beauty as I see the world around me bursting with spring flowers and new life. As I think about the month of May and the celebration of Mother’s day, I’m reminded of the gift of relationships with others and the God given gifts of family and friends. God gives the church as a community to grow and nurture faith and to offer support when times get tough. On May 31, we’ll celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. In truth, our generous God gives us all we have. Why is God so generous? That’s simply God’s nature. God loves us and wants the best for us. And I like to think giving to us gives God joy.
Having received so very much, I count it a joy and privilege to love God and to give back to God from the time, talents, and treasures God has entrusted to me. I pray you know or will discover the incredible joy of giving.
“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Cor. 9:15)
Blessings,

Anne
