Here is the Christmas Story. Yes, it’s December already. This is the season of Advent and then Christmas. So, I want you to take the time to think about the Christmas Story. I am not talking about the movie, A Christmas Story. You can watch that movie and Ralphie later on Christmas Day. Now I am talking about the story of the birth of Jesus.

One day the angel came to Mary and said, “Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!” Mary was deeply troubled by the angel’s message, and she wondered what his words meant.

What did the angel say to deeply troubled Mary? The angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Mary.” What message do you think the angel of God would bring to us today? What do you think God wants to say to us for this Christmas? I believe this is what God wants to tell us from His heart – “Don’t be afraid. Fear not. I am with you.”

It’s been a long year with the pandemic. The number of confirmed cases is still growing. Where can we find hope? Is there hope?

Yes! We find hope in Christmas. Christmas is about God’s coming to us in His Son, Jesus. God knows what we have been going through. God feels what we feel. As long as He feels our feelings, God can’t stay far away from us because He loves us so much. Indeed, the angel said, “He (Jesus) shall be named Emmanuel (which means. “God is with us”).”

So how can we not celebrate Christmas, the God of Emmanuel? In spite of the Coronavirus pandemic, fear not. God is with us. And let us celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus with joy and move forward to a new year with hope and peace. God was with us. God is with us. God will be with us.

Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year!
